Biography
(SCAD)Savannah Collage of Art and Design (Summa cum laude) Graduate, receiving the KALA Award for most outsanding student. Jemima Charles is an Afro-Caribbean artist born in Trinidad and Tobago. She holds a Master of Fine Arts with Savannah College of Art and Design, 2016. Jemima calls her work Neo-Caribbean, culturally infused art as she deals with HeadshipTM (authority in relationships) and storytelling based on Caribbean, African and Japanese cultural influences. Her art is predominantly expressed in the medium of Printmaking and Sculptural installations. Jemima had numerous solo and group exhibitions in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. Her international exposures are Art18 at Gallery L1, Atlanta, 2015, Troposcope – Geo voice at Tula Art Gallery, Atlanta, 2014 and the continuance project entitled Cones in Bogota, Colombia, 2010. Jemima was artist in residence at Alice Yard, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad in 2009 and interned at the Nebuta street festival, Japan, 2008.
